Fall Miami Look Book and BTS at the Cents of Style Wall

Behind the Scenes

Last week was a bit of a mess for me. I had a long awaited vacation planned for Miami with a girlfriend, but the weather had a different agenda. As Hurricane Irma came in, our trip to Miami was cancelled for safety. It look two airlines and four different flights for me to realize that I shouldn't be in Miami. I can go back to Miami anytime (in fact, the airline refunded my ticket - no questions asked!) but the part that made me the saddest was the reality that I wouldn't be able to shoot content for my blog in the beautiful tropical scenery of south Florida.

So, I looked to my surroundings at home and found a perfectly acceptable backdrop for my colorful palette. It was my first trip to Bluffdale's Cents of Style warehouse and I am delighted with the results. I haven't dared to shoot in public until now and while this may not seem like a big deal, trust me when I say I had to gather some major confidence to do so. When I shoot content for my blog, I tend to stick to more private locations so I am less embarrassed of taking pictures of...well...myself!

I filmed this little behind the scenes vlog so others could see if this location is worth coming to and what to expect when you get there. Something about these colorful walls really brought out my heart and I think you can tell in the video.

Let me know if you have any questions about the equipment I used or about the Cents of Style wall. Is this something you'd like to see more of? More behind the scenes? More tips for shooting with a tripod? Sound off in the comments!

Fall Look Book for Miami

While the rest of the country is gearing up for fall, Miami weather is still a humid 89 degrees in September. It was pretty entertaining for me to see the other bloggers shooting fall and winter content while I was still rocking my maxi dresses and flip flops. They probably thought I was nuts! So keeping "fall" in mind, I went for colorful options that Miami is known for, but then threw in some black and maroon to give it that autumn feel while still being practical about the heat.

My favorite look was the white dress from Boohoo. I was going to wear it to a fancy steak house one night and thought the white looked so chic while the material of the dress looked super beachy.

My second favorite item was the black maxi dress. I have the version made specifically for tall women (5'9 and up) and I am wearing a size 10. I could have easily went down to an 8 or maybe even a 6 but since this is a maxi dress, it is totally fine to be a little oversized. Regardless of the size, this maxi is insanely long! I have to lift one side of the maxi dress to carry when I walk, otherwise, I trip on the length. I've never had this problem before so it was a welcome adjustment (I'm 5'11).
